Throwback Thursday: Fabulous 1950’s

Saddle3 Elvis Presley, the undisputed king of rock and roll, was born on this day in 1935. While Elvis may have had an affinity for blue suede, his concerts were likely filled to capacity with a bevy of swooning teenage girls sporting poodle skirts and saddle shoes. So, for old time’s sake we’re taking a look at the resurgence of one of the 1950’s most ubiquitous staples. Untitled design (1)

Saddle shoes have been around since the early 1900’s, but they notably rose in popularity in the middle of the century. In 2015 this trend is coming back big – making them a must have wardrobe staple for spring!

The traditional black and white shoes, like the ones in these vintage ads, probably come immediately to mind when you think of saddle shoes, but now they can be found in an array of colors and textiles like suede or polished leather. This durable and versatile classic is back in the spotlight and ready to rock!

The trend can be a bit tricky to pull off while keeping it current, so SJ has the accessories you’ll need to pull this look together like a pro!

Our faux gator band Octavia Classic Olivia watches are simple designs reminiscent of the past, adding just the right pop of color to your outfit!

They also pair wonderfully with these adorable heart shaped Swarovski element gold toned stud earrings.

Swarovski Elements Heart Shaped Studs

SJ’s awesome brushed gold tone button ring, perfectly completes this throwback ensemble. Even suspicious minds can’t help falling in love with a look this perfect!

I never had Saddle shoes but friends of mine did in elementary school in the 60s. The watches look too modern to be reminiscent of that era, though the pairing shown with the purple watch and shoes goes together fabulously!
