Around the World: International Shipping

International shipping can be mystifying but it doesn’t have to be. Continuing reading for tips to help make the process easier to understand.

If you’re anything like me, international shipping is like piecing together a puzzle. There are different rules for each importing country, and the timing can depend on a variety of circumstances – from weather conditions to customs processes.

Tracking

The key is to watch the tracking information. When your package ships the SuperJeweler team will email you a notification with the tracking information, and depending on the shipping method – how fast it will arrive at your shipping address.

By checking your tracking regularly, you can follow your purchase from the SJ warehouse to it’s final destination. If something goes awry along the way,  you’ll know immediately. The sooner an issue is discovered in the shipping process, the sooner it can be addressed.

Customs

International orders are rarely delayed in customs, and the vast majority are delivered per the estimated delivery date. That being said, we cannot guarantee that there will be no delay as your package travels through customs.

One example that comes to mind is recent holiday customs strikes just before Christmas. SuperJeweler sent out emails to customers at the time that orders were placed offering the standard estimated shipping time. Unfortunately due to strikes in certain areas, some packages were delayed by weeks. Try as we might, there was simply nothing that could be done.

The importing country reserves the right to intercept packages for inspection, delay, or even stop packages they deem necessary for investigation. We cannot intervene with the governing authorities and must allow extra time for the process. Once cleared, your parcel will be delivered via the local carrier.

One last note regarding customs; SuperJeweler ships to customers all over the world – and we don’t charge anything for standard shipping. International customers should be aware, however, that we have no control or influence over import taxes and fees that may be charged by the country of import. These charges typically require payment prior to delivery. You can find out more about your countries tax rates and import fees by contacting your local customs department.

Methods and Expedited Rates

Below I’ve included our different shipping methods, pricing for the expedited methods, and the estimated delivery times.
