There was no shortage of lovely women on the 2015 Golden Globes’ red carpet this week. Women of all ages, body types, and ethnicities showed that no matter what the media tells us, there’s no cookie cutter standard – or expiration date – for beauty!
Dame Helen Mirren
Dame Helen Mirren is a dream in head to toe ruby. When you’ve played both Queen Elizabeth I and Queen Elizabeth II – there’s really no reason to be demure! This femme fatale force to be reckoned with has not only been a Golden Globe winner, but she’s also taken home Oscar, BAFTA, Critics Choice and SAG Awards. Get a little of Dame Helen’s regal bearing with SJ’s 12 Carat Ruby Drop Earrings.
Allison Williams
Daughter of NBC Nightly News’ Brian Williams, Allison Williams is one of the stars of HBO’s highly lauded comedy, Girls. Also a 2010 graduate of Yale University, this intellectual funny girl keeps it classy with old Hollywood hair and simple diamond studs. You can find a SuperJeweler alternative that’s easy on the wallet with these 2 Carat Trillion Cut Swarovski Elements Studs!
Lupita Nyong’o
Lupita Nyong’o is stunning in a lilac, floral-inspired gown and matching earrings at the 2015 Golden Globes! The Mexican born, Kenyan raised beauty received her Master’s from the Yale School of Drama in 2012, and Golden Globe, BAFTA, and SAG nominations – and an Oscar win – for her role in 12 Years a Slave in 2014. You can find these Oval Amethyst and Diamond Earrings in the just the same shade as Lupita’s here.
Melissa McCarthy
Funny farmer’s daughter, Melissa McCarthy is gorgeous on the red carpet – check out that side swept up-do! Cousin of the also-hilarious, Jenny McCarthy, Melissa has said of female comedy, “I grew up with funny and interesting women, and my friends are funny, interesting women. So I can’t think of any story where those women don’t come into play.” We agree! We also love those oversized black drop earrings she’s rocking. Check out our version!
Salma Hayek Pinault
As a director, producer, and actress, Salma Hayek Pinault has been nominated for numerous honors including Golden Globes, Academy Awards, and BAFTA Awards. Born in Veracruz, Mexico, she studied International Relations at the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City. An avid women’s rights activist, she’s testified before the United States Senate, and worked to increase awareness of issues surrounding domestic violence, breastfeeding and infant nutrition, and female empowerment. She was white-hot at this year’s Golden Globes, and totally rocked her dramatic feather earrings (similar to the ones found on SJ)!
Claire Danes
Claire Danes has played Louisa May Alcott’s, Beth March, William Shakespear’s, Juliet, and Victor Hugo’s, Cosette – but these days she’s best known for her role as bipolar spy, Carrie Mathison on HBO’s Homeland. She won an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or Movie for her role as Temple Grandin in HBO’s 2010 biopic of the same name. Once called the Meryl Streep of her generation, she is an actress known to be willing to take risks for her craft. For this year’s Golden Globes, she donned a vintage inspired Valentino gown and matching blue earrings. You can get her vintage look for a song from SuperJeweler here!
These accomplished women of Hollywood prove that while looks are great, it’s the passion a woman has for her work, home, and community that make her truly beautiful!
