Throwback Thursday: Fabulous 1950’s

Elvis Presley, the undisputed king of rock and roll, was born on this day in 1935. While Elvis may have had an affinity for blue suede, his concerts were likely filled to capacity with a bevy of swooning teenage girls sporting poodle skirts and saddle shoes. So, for old time’s sake we’re taking a look at the resurgence of one of the 1950’s most ubiquitous staples.

Saddle shoes have been around since the early 1900’s, but they notably rose in popularity in the middle of the century. In 2015 this trend is coming back big – making them a must have wardrobe staple for spring!

The traditional black and white shoes, like the ones in these vintage ads, probably come immediately to mind when you think of saddle shoes, but now they can be found in an array of colors and textiles like suede or polished leather. This durable and versatile classic is back in the spotlight and ready to rock!​
