Valentines Day Gift Ideas

Make It Special Without Breaking the Bank

SJ has found that Valentine’s Day can be a source of distress for a lot of people (especially male people) who want to find just the right Valentines Day gift.

We make it a practice at SuperJeweler to do whatever we can to alleviate our customer’s stress…so this year, I’ve come up with a list of ten ideas for a fun, budget-friendly Valentine’s Day that you’ll both love!

1. Cooking Together

Of course, if neither of you can boil water this might not be the best choice for you. There’s something about preparing a meal with someone else that turns a chore into an event. Forget about calorie counting for the evening, toss in a bottle of wine (or two), and you’re all set!

2. Movie Night at Home

What goes better with a dinner at home than movie night? With services like Amazon and Netflix, it’s never been easier to enjoy a home theater experience. Valentines Day gifts don’t have to cost a dime, you can make this option even more budget-friendly by heading to your local library for a free “rental!”

3. Make it a Potluck

Spending time alone is fun, but Valentines Day can also be a great time to catch up with friends. Make it a potluck and bust out the board games. Invite other couples or make it a singles night, either way everyone will have a great time!

4. Explore Your Town

After a few decades of decline, Main Street USA is making a very welcome comeback. Don’t let the nip in the air deter you. Bundle up with your sweetheart, and spend the day getting to know your community.

5. Do Dessert

Find a great new restaurant on your downtown jaunt, but you don’t think your post-Christmas budget can handle the main course? Pop in for a scrumptious dessert and coffee. All the ambiance at a fraction of the cost!

6. Unplug

Remember when people looked at the person they were talking to rather than a tiny digital screen? Let your someone special know there’s nowhere else you’d rather be. Log off the internet, put down the notebook, hide the phone in a drawer and love the one you’re with!

7. Go Outside

I know it’s February, but the chill in the air can work in your favor! Clear winter skies make for great stargazing. Light that fire pit or fire up the chiminea, grab a quilt and get ready to cuddle!

8. Write a Letter

With all the ways we have to communicate instantaneously these days, love letters might seem like a relic from another era, but sometimes it’s nice to slow down. Make a list of all the reasons that you love your someone special, and that simple letter will be remembered long after the text messages have been deleted!

9. Have a Lazy Day

There’s no law that says your Valentines Day gift needs to be a production. V-Day falls on a Saturday this year, so it might be a perfect time to send the kids to grandma, stock up on your favorite eats, and spend the day in your pajamas (or not)!

10. SuperJeweler.com

Take a class together...local libraries often have free or very cheap ones. (You could also look on a "meet up" site.) Or go to the museum together...many have free or very inexpensive admission.
