A Study in Purple

Anyone who knows me can attest (with a sigh and exaggerated eye roll), I am just the teeny-tiniest bit obsessed with Sherlock BBC. I’ve made it my personal mission to turn every unsuspecting friend, family member, and casual acquaintance into a Sherlockian. I’ve had mixed results ranging from, “Meh”  to, “What do you mean the next season doesn’t come out until 2016 – how could you do this to me?!” I categorically do not believe the former have actually watched the show, the latter are in the first stages of addiction (I know they don’t really mean those nasty names – they’re just itching for a fix).

Last night, I was thrilled (and vindicated) when Sherlock was the biggest 2014 Emmy winner of the night, taking home awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Movie or Miniseries, Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or Movie, and Outstanding Writing for a Miniseries, Movie, or Dramatic Special. Those were in addition to several creative arts awards for cinematography, musical composition, and editing.

This week, I decided to serve up a little lady-lock! (Although I will admit, the only mystery in The Case of the Purple Shirt is exactly what is holding those buttons on?) In order to fem up this look, I started with a gorgeous royal purple blouse that drapes just-so. I’ve paired it with dark skinny jeans and a pair high heeled, tall boots any she-lock would fall for! No consulting detective would be caught dead without her double-breasted black overcoat, navy scarf, and black leather driving gloves (no fingerprints). Finally, I dug around to find just the right accessories to finish off my ensemble.
